On a cold winter day in 1993; Rod Baker of Bakers Cleaners drove past a school yard and saw a child without a winter coat. He shared what he had seen with Kim Harvey the Manager of McDonald’s. Together they then approached The Salvation Army Community & Family Services Director David Alexander.

That meeting set in motion The ‘Coats For Kids Campaign.

The first Season 300 donated coats went to Elementary School Aged Children. Today approximately 6,000 donated Coats have helped keep community children warm.

The Cobourg. Port Hope Salvation Army Community & Family Services “Coats for Kids Campaign” Donation launches this week until October 7th.
