Luba Slatkova, the Senior Medical Adviser on Bone Health at Amgen, Canada, visited “Classical Mornings” with Mike and Jean to talk about National Osteoporosis Awareness Month. Luba mentions balance exercises are important (Jean attempts a tai chi move) and Mike impulsively grabs a pineapple. Well, as it turns out – pineapples are good for bone health, too!

Listen to the interview:

Osteoporosis can strike at any age, but it particularly affects people aged 50+. With proper care and diagnosis, untreated osteoporosis can lead to broken bones. Did you know that at least 1 in 3 women, and 1 in 5 men will suffer a broken bone from osteoporosis in their lifetime? Also, 40% of Canadian women aged 55-64 can’t define osteoporosis correctly, and only 24% of those aged 65+ feel like they can explain what it is. Zoomers, keep walking, do your tai chi or yoga, and lift weights!
