The James Bond movie franchise is one of the longest-running and most successful in film history, and the music has become as iconic as the 007 himself. Ian Fleming’s fiction spawned not only the films, but dramatizations on radio, television, comic strips, and video games. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra is presenting James Bond: The Music, featuring vocalist Capathia Jenkins. Let’s take five minutes to meet Capathia and find our more about this fun night out on the town!
Name two songs that you are performing at James Bond: The Music concert at the TSO.
“Diamonds Are Forever” and “Skyfall”.
As sung by Shirley Bassey and Adele – very nice! Who was your favourite James Bond and why?
Daniel Craig- he has it all, the charm, the looks, the danger, the smoulder, and the brains. Although my favorite used to be Sean Connery, Daniel Craig is more of all that is good about Mr. Connery.
I agree! Any musical highlights you can share about what the audience can look forward to?
Well, if you are a Bond fan you are certainly in for a treat because you will not only hear the great songs but our conductor, John Morris Russell, is quite the historian on all things Bond. He shares so many stories and interesting facts that most people don’t know which makes for a very satisfying experience.
That’s great to know – and we look forward to hearing you sing!
The TSO’s James Bond: The Music concerts are conducted by John Morris Russell, and along with Capathia, fellow vocalist Ron Bohmer will also perform. For more information and tickets, please click here.
