This week, Cocktail Maestro marks 100 years of one of the great classic cocktails, the Negroni. He tells the story of the drink, its precursors, and offers a few off-beat variations!
The Recipes:
In all cases, stir ingredients over ice until very cold and well diluted; then pour into a rocks glass over fresh ice and serve with a lemon twist.
The Negroni
1oz Campari
1oz sweet vermouth
1oz gin
The precursors:
The Milano Torino
Equal parts sweet vermouth (Punt e Mes if you can get it!) and Campari
The Americano
1oz Campari
1oz sweet vermouth
Top with soda water

The Old Pal
1oz Rye
1oz dry white vermouth
1oz Campari
The Contessa
1oz Aperol
1oz dry white vermouth
1oz gin
