The Toronto Summer Music Festival commences at Koerner Hall this Thursday, July 11 at 7:30  with “Opening Night – Beyond Borders”.  Famed and fabulous soprano Adrianne Pieczonka dropped by “Classical Mornings” with Mike (Jean’s on vacation) to chat about her upcoming performance in the opening concert, along with the challenges of taking care of the voice as an instrument, and what it’s like to hear Richard Strauss arranged from full orchestra to a quintet!

Listen to the interview here:

It’s a fabulous line up:  along with Adrianne, the lineup boasts host Tom Allen; pianist Jon Kimura Parker; violinist Kerson Leong; pianist Rachael Kerr; pianist Steven Philcox; and the New Orford String Quartet. Repertoire features Mozart, Ravel, Sarasate, Kreisler, Chopin, and Strauss.

Toronto Summer Music, under the artistic direction of Jonathan Crow, runs July 11 to August 3. For info, please visit here.
