This week on Dinner Classics Cocktail Maestro serves up a special Halloween version of the Old Fashioned, just in time for trick-or-treating!
This Old Fashioned requires some homemade Pumpkin Spiced simple syrup. It’s easy to make!
Norm’s Pumpkin-spiced Simple Syrup
– 1 part Pumpkin Ale
(Norm recommends the one made by Great Lakes Brewery)
– 2 parts sugar
(Use whatever amounts you wish. e.g. 1 cup beer to 2 cups sugar)
– Spices such as star anise and a cinnamon stick.
Heat all ingredients in a pot on the stove until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the spices, scrape off the beer foam, and voila – you’re done!
Pumpkin-spiced Old Fashioned
2 oz bourbon
1 tsp Pumpkin-spiced simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Stir all ingredients on ice. Pour into a rocks glass over a large ice cube, and enjoy!
