Every Friday on “A Little Night Music” – Vintage Vocalists. Jean Stillwell of “Classical Mornings with Mike and Jean” joins Kathleen Kajioka to explore great voices of the past. This week, Marian Anderson.
Born into poverty, the granddaughter of an emancipated slave, it was Anderson’s church choir that raised the funds for this budding singer to train her voice. She would return that gift a million fold over with over four decades of performances that opened hearts and minds around the world. We’ll hear the song that moved Jean Sibelius to tears, and her historic 1939 performance at the Lincoln Memorial.
Tune in just after 9pm to hear this extraordinary voice!
