Happy birthday Sergei Prokofiev one of the great composers of the 20th century. He was born on April 23rd, 1891. He’s known for The Love for Three Oranges, the suite Lieutenant Kijé, the ballet Romeo and Juliet – from which “Dance of the Knights” is taken – and of course, Peter and the Wolf. It’s wonderful how this piece has helped introduce classical music to children for generations.
Tune in to Destination Classics this Sunday at 1pm as Mike Duncan dedicates the hour to the music of Sergei Prokofiev in honour of his birthday.
