The Broadway producers of Hedwig and the Angry Inch are going back to television to cast the title role in the musical.
Michael C. Hall takes over the role of the transgendered rock singer beginning tonight. The star of Dexter and Six Feet Under replaces Tony-winner Andrew Rannells.
It’s Hall’s first Broadway musical since he played the Emcee in Cabaret a dozen years ago.
Hedwig opened in April with Neil Patrick Harris in the title role. Harris won a Tony for his performance and the show also won for best musical revival.
It was also announced yesterday that Harris will host the Oscar ceremonies in the New Year.
