Interview with Vincent Ho

Composer and pianist extraordinaire Vincent Ho recently joined Mike Duncan and Jean Stilwell on Good Day GTA to talk about his new piece The Shaman, a percussion concerto written for Dame Evelyn Glennie, who happens to be deaf.

She performed the 30-minute piece with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra on March 2nd as part of the TSO’s New Creations Festival.

In the interview, Vincent talks about how The Shaman all started and the shock of Dame Evenlyn Glennie asking him to compose the piece to open the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra‘s New Music Festival.

He also talks about the impact that Ms. Glennie’s unique and inspiring performance style had on the title of the composition.
