If you’re a golfer, you’ve probably been lectured about the benefits of walking the course instead of taking a cart. Well here’s another reason to do that. A report out of the U.S. there’s been a huge increase in golf cart injuries in the last 20 years. You heard me right – Golf cart injuries.
According to The American Journal of Preventive Medicine nearly 150,000 Americans were hurt in golf cart accidents since 1990. Most either fell off the carts or were hit by them.
One reason may be that golf carts have become much faster and more powerful, reaching speeds of up to 25 miles per hour.
You usually don’t even need a driver’s license to operate one. And they don’t have seat belts or stability mechanisms – so a common injury involves people falling off, particularly from the back.
So do yourself a favour – walk with your clubs and enjoy the scenery.
