We’ve heard a lot lately about the dangers of carrying extra weight around the abdomen. Excess belly fat is linked to heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Now Prevention Magazine has come up with a diet which it claims will help you reduce around your mid-section. The key is eating mono-unsaturated fats like olive oil, avocados, and nuts with every meal. Marianne McGinnes is an editor at Prevention:
“It is surprising to see that these fats seem to have some ability to spot reduce in and around your belly with this belly fat, and researchers aren’t sure exactly what is going on, it seems that these fats lower bad cholesterol and that’s the cholesterol that builds up that fat in and around our internal organs, and it raises good cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, which actually helps move fat out.”
This is still a calorie-reduced diet, based on eating four meals a day, with 400 calories each, every four hours. The thought is that more frequent meals will help you burn calories at a steadier rate.
