Improvisation 26 – Rowing

Improvisation 26 – Rowing featured image

There are many who look for the recognizable in an abstract painting, a woman’s face; a horse; a vase of flowers.

Fair enough, I say, I’ve always held the opinion that whatever gives the viewer pleasure is valid, however far the concept might be from the intention of the artist.

In this case, however, the tables have been turned: What one might think is an abstract painting, is a painterly improvisation on capturing some folks in a boat, rowing away for all they’re worth, and doing it very successfully indeed.
