The Yerres, Rain featured image

I can’t resist this elegant scene, containing so many of the things that I most love to see (and to create) water and reflections of trees in that water. A famous, eternal theme – much of who we physically are is mostly water…

This picture is what we want our planet to resemble, a green place, with everything needed to sustain life.

And yet M. Caillebotte’s wonderfully large painting of a Paris street scene, so utterly different from this image, was the first thing that I saw when I first visited the Chicago Art Institute, and it knocked me out.
