It began in 1996 as a “simple little” Event to encourage people to visit Meaford during their Apple Harvest Craft Show by creating a few Scarecrows around town. Today, that “Simple Little” Event The Meaford Scarecrow Invasion runs from mid-September to early October. With the help of hundreds of dedicated Volunteers there are more than 250 Scarecrows.
They dangling from lamp posts, lounge on benches, peek from behind cornstalks, are in trees and store front windows. You will see them on sidewalks, benches and verandas. They are happily frolicking everywhere. This years theme is“ Scarecrows Proudly Celebrate Canada’s 150! Friday September 29 at 6:00pm is the “Scarecrow Parade” down Sykes St to be followed by a Free “Family Festival. “A Simple Little Event” sure to make you smile.
