How Now Mrs. Brown Cow! is the latest play in the Agnes Brown series. I laughed so hard, tears were literally running down my cheeks.
Irish comedian Brendan O’Carroll has turned his creation Agnes Brown into one of the most popular figures in the British Isles. Mrs. Brown lives in a council house in Dublin. She is the mother of six children and a widow. Her foils are her family members, many of whom are O’Carroll’s real-life relations.
Her language is blue, her opinions are politically incorrect, and she does not suffer fools gladly. As played by O’Carroll in drag, she is also hilarious.
Not only are Mrs. Brown’s one liners beyond funny, her physical comedy generates side-spitting laughter. The long sequence where she tries to put the star on top of the Christmas tree had the audience rolling in the aisles.
If you love a good laugh, don’t miss this show.
How Now Mrs. Brown Cow! continues at the Canon Theatre until Sept. 4.
