Choreographer/dancer Andrea Nann’s programming always includes a collaborative mix of dance, literature and live music which makes her concerts more accessible to a wider audience. Tumbling Dice: Uncollected Dances by Andrea Nann and Friends is an exquisite evening.

With her waist-long hair, supple body and fluid grace, Nann is poetry in motion. In three works, she is partnered by Brendan Wyatt, one of the most sought after male contemporary dancers in the city, who is known for his intensity.

This retrospective evening includes Nann’s solos with erhu player George Gao and guitarist/singer Andrew Cash. The three duets are choreographed to poetry and songs by the Tragically Hip’s Gordon Downie.

Giller prize winning author Joseph Boyden is the evening’s literary figure. He reads his own poignant tribute to Vimy Ridge as well as poems by Downie.

This mesmerizing concert is rich visually, intellectually and emotionally.

Tumbling Dice: Uncollected Dances by Andrea Nann and Friends continues at the Young Centre until Nov. 14.
