At Second City for an indefinite run
Second City’s new revue Tazed and Confused is a lively tonic for the winter blues. Topical and provocative, the show does induce many smiles and even a few belly laughs. I did find this Second City incarnation not as sharp as the last revue, but there is certainly more than enough material to amuse on a winter’s evening. There are also a lot of original songs which are a treat.
The throughline is cute little vignettes about Toronto’s ridiculously small condos that begin each half and end the show. There is a great skit with a rebellious Tonto vis-à-vis the Lone Ranger, a brilliant sports interview with a football player, and a very clever scene that sails close to the wind of political correctness between college dorm mates.
Director Doug Morency has ensured his talented cast has great energy, while Matthew Reid is the master of music and sound effects.
Tazed and Confused continues at Second city for an indefinite run.
